The Public Libraries Survey (PLS) provides national descriptive data on the status of public libraries in the United States & its territories. Data are collected from over 9,000 public library systems with over 17,000 public library outlets. Conducted annually since 1988, the Public Libraries Survey (PLS) is a source on the state of public libraries in the United States. Downloadable data files from FY 1992 to present are provided in comma separated value (.csv) and SAS (.sas7bdat) formats. Data are also available as APIs for more recent years.
