The following data set was extracted from the monitoring system of the Gran Telescopio Canarias, the current largest optical-infrared telescope in the world, to characterize how different factors affect the quality of the control system for tracking the sky.

For example: does the speed and direction of the wind affect the way the control system tracks the star? Is there any angular position, (looking north, 10 degrees from south...) where the track following error is greater?

By answering these questions it can decide to adjust the operating conditions.

For example, Telescope Scheduler can prioritize observing in azimuth ranges where the wind direction is favorable.

Another example, in case there is a position where the following error is worse, it may mean that the motor encoders in this area are dirty and a cleaning process must be scheduled.
