Total imports of goods and services for the September 2023 quarter were $29.0 billion, down from $30.9 billion in the September 2022 quarter.

The total two-way trade for the September 2023 quarter was $49.9 billion.

Total services exports rose $1.0 billion to $5.9 billion in the September 2023 quarter compared with the September 2022 quarter.

The top movements of our services export categories in the September 2023 quarter compared with the September 2022 quarter were:

travel services, up $822 million to $2.5 billion

transportation services, up $190 million to $879 million

telecommunication services, up $70 million to $497 million

other business services, up $59 million to $737 million

personal, cultural, and recreation services, down $234 million to $124 million.

Total services imports rose $241 million to $7.9 billion in the September 2023 quarter compared with the September 2022 quarter.

The top movements of our services import categories in the September 2023 quarter compared with the September 2022 quarter were:

travel services, up $555 million to $2.0 billion

insurance and pension services, up $148 million to $846 million

telecommunication services, up $90 million to $897 million

charges for the use of intellectual property services, up $36 million to $460 million

transportation services, down $694 million to $1.6 billion.
