Context and Inspiration

The core idea behind this dataset is to study the proliferation of Hindi news from reputable sources concerning the COVID-19 first wave in India. This dataset can also be used for the following purposes:

• Understanding the popularity of news topics in Hindi news media
• Studying the propagation of 'fake news' in Hindi news media
• Studying the spread of clickbait in Hindi news media, as has been done by my paper. Arxiv Link
• Comparing different popular Hindi news sources and their journalistic practices among others!

Content

This dataset is a collection of 97,000+ tweets by 5 popular and reputed Hindi news sources: BBC Hindi, Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, Hindustan and Navbharat Times from late 2019 till late 2020.
